Architecture has the power to improve everyday life in meaningful ways.
This home modification project was designed to support independent living for a wheelchair user, seamlessly integrating accessibility into a calm and contemporary residential environment.
Rather than treating accessibility as an addition, every element was considered as part of a cohesive architectural solution. A ceiling-mounted hoist system is discreetly concealed within custom joinery when not in use, while full-height cabinetry provides generous storage, conceals assistive equipment and creates a refined, unified backdrop to the room.
The design prioritises functionality without compromising the warmth, character and comfort of the home, demonstrating that accessibility and thoughtful architecture can work seamlessly together.
